| How long have you been doing comedy? A: I've been doing comedy for over 30 years.....I've been a professional stand-up comedian/actor/writer getting paid for it for about 12 years. I've always been the class clown but that's a lousy job description to try to get paid doing so I switched careers. Back to Top

| Since you make others laugh, what makes you laugh?? A: I make me laugh onstage.....I know I'm not supposed to laugh at my own stuff but sometimes it happens. The crowd is a good source of laughter for me also..... things happen that only I can see in the crowd (crotch shots with no panties comes to mind). Also people forget they're in a crowd and just embarrass themselves.....in Feb '05 a lady got so drunk at my show she fell out face first literally on the floor during the show, her shirt came up and everythang was showing...it happened near the stage so most people in the audience couldn't see what happened and I had to first relay the information and then determine was that she hurt, cuz she hit the floor HARD, but she enjoyed the show......AND I still had 15 minutes to go before I was done.....paramedics came in and carried her out and I had to follow that with 15 more minutes of comedy......The crowd thought that it turned out GREAT, but I wouldn't want that happening at every show. | Have you worked with anyone famous? A: Yes, many famous people.....I worked with every hot comic you can think of at one time or another onstage, due to the fact that I host at the Hollywood Improv a lot and we only get the best of the best.....one great memory was opening for Chris Rock two days after 9/11 and there were only about 30 people in the crowd and he ripped it up with material you will never hear him do anywhere else, and then Damon Wayans came in and performed about an hour of material after that. It was a weird but a great nite. The funny part was about two months after that I read an article in a magazine that said how bad Chris had done that nite, and described it like he bombed with a big crowd......not true I was there. It just goes to show that your own perception is your own reality, and sometimes ya gotta get your head outta your ass and consider the timing and the situation. Back to Top

| Do you ever get stage-fright? A: HELL NO!!! I can't wait to get on stage!! Every time is like sex with a strange new woman....for me you never know how it's gonna go, but it's always interesting and exciting. Performing is like sex to me I enjoy it to the fullest.......ALWAYS! Back to Top

| Are there comic groupies?? A: Hell yeah, especially after this website goes public. Many people want to know where you are and what you're doing and that's how you build a following for more and better gigs as well as TV. George Lopez is a prime example.....he sold out routinely in Southern Cal areas and that helped him to launch his sit-com......of course there are other kinds of groupies too.....if you're famous or infamous you will get attention.....I've been infamous, now I'm trying to be famous.......maybe I should flip the script......what do you think??? E-mail me with your ideas. Back to Top

| Does your stage life and private life parallel in any way? A: Yes, I believe in truth comedy. I used to just write jokes until I realized anyone can do that or steal the idea......no one can steal me or what I'm doing so now I write from the heart on my experiences in life and my family.....there are some jokes but for the most part stuff you hear in my act actually happened. | Who do you look up to in the Comedy Business? A: No one! I'm setting my own path and I know what ever is in my future hasn't been done yet?? I admire and can appreciate comedians who have longevity in the business and have achieved a certain level of success, people I know and appreciate are: George Wallace (we attended the same college, The University of Akron, and yes I did graduate), George Carlin, Flip Wilson (my personal favorite, a genius), Richard Pryor/Redd Foxx (obviously) I wish more people would brush up on their comedy history so they could catch some of these people recycling/stealing their jokes, Renaldo Rey (a man among men, gave me some great advice), Bobby Collins (the maestro, he knows how to play the game, and is funny as hell)......that's just some to name a few. It's always interesting when I'm performing and see someone famous in the audience, like one time I met Nicholas Cage after a show at the Improv....nice guy......drives a Rolls Royce.......what did you think he was gonna roll up in a Dodge Neon?? | Is there racism in comedy? A: Of course there's racism everywhere, however the higher you get on the comedy ladder it becomes less about color and more about funny. The clubs and TV cannot afford to overlook talent.....unless you're just such a head case people can't deal with you, then you get a sit-com which is exactly why I DON'T have one yet, I'M TOO DAMNED NICE!!! | Do you have a ritual before each show?? A: Oh yeah. First, I like to take a bath, not a shower before the show...a good 30-45 minute soak. Then a meal about an hour before showtime and then right before I hit the stage I ask the Lord to help me take my act to the next level, and then I tell my pops who passed away in '00 I miss him.......he was the funniest guy I have ever known BAR NONE! He still is, along with my family, my greatest inspiration. He always stressed to me to be my own man, and never follow the crowd. I guess that's why I'm still pretty much a lone wolf and after the shows I don't hang out much.......unless it's a big city then I might be out all nite.....being my own man!! Back to Top
|
| What made you decide on a comedy career? A: I got tired of being fired...I'm real good at it, getting fired. I mean I've had every job imaginable: cleaning toilets, drywall, landscaping, marketing for a cigarette company, you name it I've done it......yes stripping too!! This gig has more job security because I work for myself......I love my boss. Back to Top
|
| How did you get started in Comedy?? A: Open Mike Contest. I won the contest the first time I stepped on stage......and I pursued it further for the love of the game. You have to love it first, continue to get funnier, be persisent and maintain a positive attitude. Many will be trying to bring you down, it's all on you to get better, be better and stay strong. If that doesn't work, there's always work at the post office. Back to Top
